LOUREN J. SCHLOTTMAN
Louren J. Schlottman, age 91, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home under hospice care.
He was born June 8, 1924, in Menomonie, WI to John and Lydia (Schutz) Schlottman. He grew up in the Town of Sherman, Dunn County, and graduated from Boyceville High School. On October 25, 1945, Louren married Mae Stewart at Christ Lutheran Church and together they worked the family farm until 1986 when they retired and moved to Menomonie. During this time they raised four children and later enjoyed time with their grandchildren. Louren enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends and he made numerous trips to Canada and elsewhere enjoying his time with them. During his early years of retirement Louren and Mae wintered in Arizona and enjoyed their campsite at Big Moon Lake in Barron County. In July 1992 his wife died unexpectedly and on November 5, 1993 Louren married Ruby (Nelson) Knoepke.
For the next 22 years Louren and Ruby shared life together making frequent trips to visit family and friends and traveling to Alaska and Europe. Their license plate on their van represented their lives during this time: “GON A LOT”. They also had time to enjoy the pleasure of seeing their great grandchildren being born and grow.
Louren is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Menomonie, one son, Allen of Boyceville, two daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Wendt, Menomonie, and Judy (Thomas) Humpal, Boyceville.
He is also survived by brother and sister in-law Lynn and Jo Stewart, Menomonie; six grandchildren, Amy Schlottman Thorson, Jon Schlottman, Olivia Wendt (Steve) Sundby, Kaleb (Teddi) Humpal, Danielle Wendt (Travis) Hahn, and Alison Humpal; six great grandchildren, Robbie and Treylin Thorson, Cooper Sundby, Aubrie and Harper Humpal, and Oden Hahn; close family friend Laurie “Rosie” (Foslid) Ince, Luck; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Louren also enjoyed knowing Ruby’s children: Janet, Harvey, Kenneth, Deborah, and Linda during his time with them.
Louren was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mae, daughter Vivian Schlottman, brothers Harold (Carmen), Marvin (Elsie), and Richard (Arvilla) Schlottman, and sisters Harriet (Harold) Hansen and Dorothy (Earl) Radke.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Pastor Jeanne Warner officiating. Burial will take place at Tramway Cemetery, Township of Menomonie, Dunn County. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Memorials for Louren may be directed towards the Christ Lutheran Church Driveway Fund, the Tramway Cemetery Association, or the Mayo Health System Hospice Program.
