WARREN R. LARSON
Warren R. Larson, 74 of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 10, 2015 at his home, after a hard fought battle with angio sarcoma, a rare cancer.
Warren was born October 11, 1941 in Baldwin, WI to Ralph and Adeline Larson. He attended elementary school in Emerald, WI (where he had to walk up hill both ways) and graduated in 1960 from Glenwood City High School. After graduation he moved to St. Paul. In May of 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Myra and they were blessed with three children.
In 1964, they moved to Inver Grove Heights and Warren held several construction jobs until eventually retiring from D.J. Kranz in 2002. He was a dedicated member of the Cement Mason Local 633 union, proudly earning a 40-year Gold Card, and actively serving on the executive board of Health and Welfare pension.
He was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran church and a shining example of serving God by serving others. Besides passion for his family and faith, Warren thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending sporting events, cooking for church dinners and spending time at the family’s hunting shack.
Warren was a passionate man, loved God, family and country. He was there to be a father and a big brother to those who needed it. He was a master with concrete, and there are many driveways and patios that attest to that passion. He had a love for cooking – and everything he made had his signature “delicious” on it (some might call it “butter”).
Warren touched the lives of many people with his quiet generosity, thoughtful advice, work ethic, occasional smile, fun loving personality, and quick wit which he maintained until the end.
Warren is preceded in death by his grandson Michael, his step granddaughter Autumn, his parents Ralph and Adeline, his brother Edward, and his sister Linda.
Warren will forever be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Myra and their children, Rodney (Debra), Craig (Sharon) and Amanda (Matt); grandchildren Josh, Ryan, Jacob, Kate, and Alaina; step great grandchildren Alyssa and Tim; and Siblings Janet (Bruce), Charlotte (Jack), Sharon (Richard), Duane, Dawn (Greg), and Cheryl.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 – 8 pm at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077.
The Funeral service will be Friday at 11am at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour before.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church Warren served for so many years, St. Mark Lutheran Church, 550 West 7th Street, St. Paul, MN 55102.
