Local snowmobile and ATV clubs need membership, help
Like many other organizations, the work and activities of the area snowmobile and ATV clubs are provided by a few dedicated members.
That is no different for the Boyceville Area Sno-Jammers Snowmobile club, according to member Dan Knops.
“If there aren’t new members to help the clubs may be forced to close some trails due to a lack of help in marking and maintaining them,” said Knops in an email to the Tribune Press Reporter.
“All area snowmobile/ATV clubs are struggling,” added Knops following the Sno-jammers annual meeting, which 14 attended.
Knops said that area clubs need more membership and volunteers to help staff events as well as to mark and maintain trails throughout the area and in exchange there are trails to ride which affords members opportunities to ride locally and statewide as individuals and groups.
“People using the trails need to understand that without clubs’ help, the trails may not be signed or opened,” stated Knops.
He warned that trail users should not be upset when trails are closed due to lack of support especially if they only use the trails and do not help make or maintain them.
Knops encourages all snowmobile and ATV owners to get involved with and help support your area clubs. The Sno-jammers’ next meeting will be held tonight at 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 11 at Kistner’s Korner in Connorsville.
