KAREN SUE GRUEL

Karen Sue Gruel, age 69 of Somerset, Wisconsin, died peacefully at her home after suffering a stroke.

She was born on September 13, 1946 in Staples, Minnesota to Monroe & Alice (Crampton) Marsh. Karen recently retired from the Bergquist Company in Prescott, Wisconsin, where she loyally worked for the past 40 years. Karen enjoyed spending time at her cabin on the Crow Wing River with her family. She was an amazing quilter and cook. Karen loved to bake for family and friends and could not pass up a garage sale. She was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed gambling for fun, whether it was bingo, pull tabs, or a casino venture.

Karen is preceded in death by her mom and dad and her sister-in-law Christine Marsh.

Karen is survived by her children, Roy (Brenda), Scott (Heidi), Cheryl Gilbert, Brenda Gruel; grandchildren, Jordan Gruel, Tyler L’Allier, Ally Gruel, Calvin Gruel, Jack Gruel, Sam Norman, Dani Norman, Sean Gilbert, Cory Gilbert, Adrien Culp, Alex Culp, Kelsie Knops, Kristie Knops; great grandchild, Jax L’Allier; siblings, Pete (Jean) Marsh, Tim (Colleen) Marsh, Mike Marsh, Pat (Curt) Browning, Cindy Chase, Dave (Cindy) Marsh; Aunt Betty Pederson and Uncle Robert Crampton; also loved by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and family.

A visitation to help celebrate her life was held on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Cullen Crea funeral home, 307 South Arch Avenue in New Richmond, Wisconsin. She was loved by all she touched and will be greatly missed.
