Minneblom Milers of Colfax Area Nursing Home raised $2,500 during the annual Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s disease at Wakanda Park in Menomonie.
The Elk Mound school district showed an increase of 58 students throughout the district after taking their fall count.
The Colfax football team was knocked out of a tie for first place in the conference after losing to St. Croix Central 20-14 in overtime. Jeff Brewer threw a pair of scoring passes to Andy Berres for Colfax.
Elk Mound defeated Boyceville 47-0 on four touchdown passes thrown by Brandon O’Connell.

Mike and Diane Werner of Menomonie are the new owners of the Noer Drug Store in Colfax.
Deb Klukas was chosen to replace Judy Lamb on the Colfax school board after Lamb moved out of the district.
Former Minnesota Viking player Keith Nord spoke to students and adults at Colfax and Elk Mound schools as part of Red Ribbon Week activities.
Brenda Ann Styer and James John Turcotte were married August 25 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie.

Colfax Peoples State Bank wants to move from its downtown Main St. location to the southern outskirts of town but a group opposing the move has been formed and has been sponsoring ads in The Messenger.
The Colfax Messenger has won the third place sports award for weekly newspapers with circulation less than 1,500 in the 1980 National Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest. It is the first newspaper association award The Messenger has won in its 84 years of publication.
Colfax defeated Glenwood City 49-8 in gridiron action as Ron Dehnhoff scored the final touchdown for the Vikings on a spectacular 64 yard sprint with seven minutes left in the game.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lee will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Oct. 17 with an open house at Colfax Lutheran Church.
Dana Bronken and Ken Reed, Sr. were in attendance at the second game of the World Series at Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis while Dick Toycen and Manley Stene attended the sixth game of the series.
Patricia L. Berg and Jerry M. Johnson were united in marriage Oct. 2 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer.

The marriage of Barbara King and Richard Hart was solemnized Sept. 23 at the Lutheran parsonage.
Dr. C.A. Cooper, Colfax, is one of 20 veteran Wisconsin physicians to be honored for his long and devoted service to the community at the annual convention of the State Medical Society at Milwaukee.
Colfax defeated Glenwood City 39-0 as touchdowns were scored by Leo Pecore, LaMoine Follingstad and two each by Clyde Prince and Dale Rostamo which included the final one of the game for 72 yards.

Several from the Sand Creek valley attended the moving picture show in the Hay Creek school house Sunday evening.
The Chippewa Herald recently said, “Friends of Albert Cardinal who is a tonsorial artist at Colfax, have been notified that his wedding bells are soon to ring for him. The young lady of his choice is a Miss Olson of that place. The friends are satisfied that the event will take place this month.” But Mr. Cardinal says, “Not guilty.”
