GERALD (JERRY) DAVID SNYDER

Gerald David Snyder (Jerry), age 74 of Woodville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 13th, 2015 while on his annual fishing trip to Batwing Lake in Ontario, Canada.

Jerry was born November 20th, 1940 in Baldwin, WI to Calvin and Eugenia (Peterson) Snyder. He graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy serving for four years. Grandpa Jerry later enjoyed teasing his three Army grandsons about not joining the Navy. He then attended UW-Stout in Menomonie for two years and then went on to receive his Associates Degree from CVTC in Eau Claire for Machine Tool & Dye.

On July 11, 1964, he married the love of his life, Marlys Johnson, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Wilson, WI. The newlyweds raised their three children on a farm north of Woodville. They enjoyed working on and remodeling their home, combing antique stores for good finds, working on crafts together, gardening and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed taking care of his beloved critters who already deeply miss him.

Jerry was a quiet man with a strong Christian faith. He was a very active member of St. Bridget’s all of his life. He sang out loud during Mass, he enjoyed shaking hands with people and was always kind to everyone. He lived his faith. He was a member of the Wilson American Legion Post 330 and enjoyed making roulette wheels for local legions.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his annual fishing trip to Canada, deer camp in Drummond, and ice fishing in the winter often with his good friend Aage Duch.

Jerry was known for wearing his pants with the broken zipper, boots with duct tape and his pipe in his chest pocket. He was also known as a man who could fix anything, build anything and loved to tease and joke around.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marlys, of Woodville WI. Three children: Julie (Cary) Rose of Hudson, WI; Tim (Nichole) Snyder of Spring Valley, WI; Jennifer (Jeff) Anderson of Amelia, OH.
