Eight new members have joined the Colfax school district instructional staff including Ricki Millevolte, Laura Schmidt, Penny Ladd, Amy Poirier, Polly Rudi, Vince Ross, Colleen Verdon and Sarah Reiter.

Craig and Becky Loofboro will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Sand Creek Senior Center Sept. 10.

Gas pump sticker shock hit Colfax hard when the price of regular unleaded gasoline climbed to $3.19 per gallon at both community stations Sept. 2.

September 13, 1990

A son, Evan Bradley Bartilson was born Sept. 1 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls to Brad and Marybeth Bartilson.

Born to Mike and Wanda Nusberger of Wheeler, a son named Brian Michael Aug. 27 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

Two new businesses opened in Colfax including Home Town Cafe, owned by Lynn and David Gaddy, and Lone Wolf, owned by Dave Olson of Eau Claire which specializes in the manufacturing of various kinds of wood items.

In gridiron action, Colfax upset Glenwood City 14-6 while Elk Mound remained unbeaten at 3-0 with a 13-6 win over St. Croix Central.

Laura Bradford of Monticello, Minn. and Lloyd Persons of New Auburn were married Aug. 11 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek.

Nanette Renee Bosben became the bride of Jeffrey Allen Wallace Aug. 9 at Colfax Lutheran Church.

A son, Nicholas John, was born to Robert and Mary Ann Myers at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

Jon Solem rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns as Elk Mound beat Boyceville 27-0.

Although Tim Knutson ran a kickoff back 85 yards for a score, Colfax lost 26-14 in Elmwood as Tom Mountin threw three TD passes for the Raiders.

LeRoy Butler, a native of Colfax and Judith Carle of St. Paul were married Aug. 28 at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Miss Linda Dahl of Wheeler and Lynn Krause of Colfax exchanged wedding vows Sept. 4 at the Hay River Lutheran Church.

Brenda Lee Frank became the bride of Morris Allen Waite Sept. 4 at Faith Lutheran Church of Running Valley, Colfax.

Miss Gail Ellsworth of Oak Harbor, Washington became the bride of E.T. 3 Rodney Lee Dahl of Wheeler Aug. 28 at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor.

A daughter was born Sept. 14 to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Close in St. Paul.

The Colfax football team fell in defeat to a superior team from Baldwin-Woodville 43-13. Tom Harstad threw touchdown passes to Dick Hones and Dave Swartz and a two point pass to Mike Boyd for the Vikings.

Colfax graduate Stu Barstad will be in the backfield for the St. Olaf College football team when they begin play at Concordia of Moorehead Sept. 16.

Arnold Loftus, manager of the Colfax Tractor and Implement Company, is urging farmers who need equipment to purchase immediately, as he says there is a noticeable tightening in steel supplies. They have received no tractors for two months.

A most delightful gathering was held at the parlors of the Caledonia Street Methodist Church as a farewell to the family of M.E. Fraser, the retiring pastor.

Dr. G.I. Gregory was taken quite suddenly with an acute attack of appendicitis last Friday and was hurried to the hospital at Chippewa Falls where he was operated on. He is said to be getting along fine.

John A. Peterson took his little daughter Saphronie back to Janesville last week to resume her studies at the school for the blind.
