Jeff Davis of Colfax, a recent graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa has received the Fund for Theological Education Scholarship to attend Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.

Local chiropractor Dale Winget gave what is probably his last musical performance during the weekly Music in the Park concert before moving to California in September.

At the request of Dave Lew, Elk Mound Youth Athletics Director, the Elk Mound  village board agreed to pay $1,000 towards new dugouts at the softball field at the Village Park with $600 coming from the Colfax Sports and Recreation Fund, Inc.

Bob and Joli Morning are the parents of a son, Trent Robert, born July 13 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

A daughter, Sara Jo, was born August 10 to Peggy and Brian Johnson at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

Linda Clemmons and Mark O’Mara, both of Elk Mound were married June 30 at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound.

Michael and Patricia Hafele have announced the birth of a son, Christian John, born August 15 at Myrtle Werth Medical Center, Menomonie.

A son, Anthony James, was born July 7 to Sylvia and Bruce Scheff of Milwaukee at St. Joseph Hospital.

Carol Ann Lind of Colfax and Steven Robert Gessner of Eau Claire were married August 8 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire.

Winners of the Colfax Trap League’s tournament for members were Rollie Mittelstadt in Class C, Bill Hahn in Class B and Skip Boughton in Class A.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. David Franzen of Kasson, Minn, a daughter, Theresa Kay at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Diane Henderson of Colfax became the bride of Kenneth Stofferahn of Humboldt, South Dakota on August 7 at Colfax Lutheran Church.

Nuptial vows were exchanged between Beverly Jean Bjork and James Spagnoletti, both of Elk Mound August 7 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church.

Don Davis and his Orchestra and the Dorothy Dorbon Girls will perform in the Grandstand at the Dunn County Fair August 11-13.

Coach Ken Poppy announces football practice will get underway August 17. The outlook this year is bright despite the loss of four veteran players including Curtiss Close, Dave Stansbury, Clyde Teppen and John Foust from graduation, while Norman Siverling who was expected to take over the fullback spot, moved to Cadott.

Miss Ruth Anderson, service unit chairman here for the Salvation Army annual drive, reports that $94 was received in the village in the recent solicitation for funds.

A 10 ½ pound girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Erickson Tuesday evening, and expects to take up her abode with them permanently—at least till she’s 18. All doing nicely — especially Oscar.

Oscar Gunderson, who is to be the Cashier of the new People’s State Bank of Colfax, came here Monday evening from Minneapolis and is making preparations for the opening of the bank soon after Sept. 1st.
