A son, Jake Joseph Schindler, was born to Wayne and Kasey Schindler of Colfax June 17 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Six large trees in Tom and Shirley Rude’s front yard on Highway 40 south of Colfax were snapped off or uprooted by the fierce wind and rainstorm that blew through Dunn County just before noon on July 23.

The Colfax Village board approved buying a new squad car for the police department, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala for $19,495 from Karl’s Chevrolet.

A son, Bronson Dennis DeMoe, was born June 26 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire to Tami and Jeff DeMoe of Colfax.

Geneva Brunberg and Donald Logslett were married June 9 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Cooks Valley.

Married April 7 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls were Margret Mary Le Duc and Kenneth Jack Hagberg.

Orie and Hazel Obermueller of Colfax will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary August 19 at the Viking Bowl.

Brenda L. Sheldon and Daniel A. Dahl, both of Colfax, were married July 12 at Holden Lutheran Church, Colfax.

Duane Popple has been certified by the DNR as a Grade 4 Operator for the Village of Colfax and Loren Paul has been certified as a Grade 1 Operator for the village.

The Viking Bowl men’s slowpitch softball team won the Elk Point League championship by defeating Wellington’s Redeye Saloon of Boyceville 10-4. Dave Kochendorfer was the winning pitcher for the Colfax team.

Three local farm families including Earl Krause, Town of Grant, Pauline Pride, Town of Otter Creek, and Howard Lowry, Town of Tainter will be awarded Century Farm and Home certificates by State Fair of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Exposition Board.

Judith Anderson of Colfax and Donald Kothlow of Menononie were married July 31 at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Colfax.

United in marriage July 31 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie were Shirley Higbie of Colfax and Ralph Bisek of Arcadia.

Miss Ardella A. Keener and Wallace J. Knutson, both of Colfax, were married July 29 at Holden Lutheran Church.

Corrine E. Rublee of Colfax became the bride of George E. DeLaitsche, also of Colfax July 29 at Norton Lutheran Church.

Private accordion lessons will be given at the Colfax Municipal Building every Tuesday morning by the Krimpelbein Accordion Center for just $1.25 for a half hour lesson.

The Colfax Midgets defeated the All Stars of Dunn County by a score of 17 to 8 behind the stellar pitching of Chuck Larson and Leo Pecore.

The ice cream social given by the C.C.C. class of the Methodist church was a very pleasant affair and receipts from it were $11.25 which will be used to buy supplies for the Sunday school.

The entire State of Wisconsin, including the stockyards at Milwaukee and Cudahy, is now freed from quarantine for foot and mouth disease, the order taking effect August 2.

A marvelously realistic Battle in the Clouds between two fighting biplanes has been booked by the Northern Wisconsin State Fair by the Patterson Aviators Sept. 21-24. This is the nearest possible reproduction of the thrilling air conflicts that are being fought above the battlefields in Europe.
