DOUGLAS WARREN MCINTYRE

Douglas Warren McIntyre, age 93, of Boyceville, WI died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie, WI with hospice.

Doug was born October 15, 1921 in the Township of Hay River, Dunn Co., WI to Floyd and Leona (Schlough) McIntyre. They later moved near Boyceville where he attended the Midway School and graduated from the Boyceville High School in 1939.

In 1941 Doug married Jean Van Dien in Stillwater, MN, where they lived and he worked for Andersen Millworks Co. until 1942. He entered the U.S. Army where he served during WWII at Camp Chaffee, AR. Doug served overseas in the 7th Army 14th armored division and later with the 3rd Army under General George Patton in France and Germany. When the war ended, he was discharged at Camp Chaffee, AR in 1945.

Doug worked at Inter-State Lumber Yard in Boyceville for 20 years, the last 10 as manager. He was a charter member of the Boyceville Fire Dept. and a member since 1948. He served on the rescue squad and as fire chief for seven years. He helped organize the Glen Hills Golf Club in Glenwood City in 1970. He was an avid golfer. He later worked as a sales person for Kolbe and Kolbe in Wausau for 20 years until retiring in 1986. He was a member of American Legion Post 314 for 69 years, joining after he was discharged. He served as Tiffany Cemetery President for several years. Doug was a member of the Boyceville Village Board and committee that purchased the first ambulance for the fire dept.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Ned, sister Ione and brother Wilmer.

Doug is survived by his wife Jean McIntyre of Boyceville, WI; daughters Beverly Hintzman of Kenosha, WI and Marilyn Stevens and husband Rick of Madison, WI; three grandchildren: Robin Brandt and husband Douglas, Noelle Mauer (Scott Mack), and Michael Hintzman and wife Crystal; five great-grandchildren: Emma Brandt, Madeline and Miranda Mauer and Benjamin and Elise Hintzman; sisters: Janet Gazinski and Norma Williams. He is further survived by nieces, nephews  other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Boyceville, WI with Reverend Timothy Matthaei officiating. Burial will be in the Tiffany Cemetery Boyceville. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
