JEAN AUDREY LAGERSTROM

Jean Audrey Lagerstrom, 81, of Glenwood City, passed away peacefully on July 19th.

She was born Oct. 5, 1933 in Downing, and attended a one room school in Best Valley which was a two-mile walk from home. She graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1950 and then moved to Minneapolis to work in banking. She married Ron on October 24, 1953 in Glenwood City at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and worked at the First State Bank of Glenwood until 1956 when she was blessed with the first of three children.

Jean was a wonderful mom, in-home daycare provider, and was always there as the neighborhood mom, willing to help and nurture all. Once her kids were in school she worked at Anderson Chev in Glenwood City, and later Bud’s Grocery Store.

Jean loved spending time at the family cabin at Webb Lake, visiting with family and friends, and the daily 3 o’clock coffee time. She enjoyed fishing and still holds the family record for the largest Bass. She also cherished her daily cribbage game with Ron, playing cards, and of course Dairy Queen. Anyone who knew her, knew she loved jelly beans and ice cream, which served as her “meat and potatoes” for many years.

Jean was a member and served as a volunteer at Holy Cross Church where she always helped where needed and enjoyed spending her time with the Church Circle and Bible study. She moved to Havenwood in 2012, and greatly appreciated the wonderful care, loving staff and fantastic friends there.

Jean is preceded in death by parents Ed and Gertrude Hildebrandt, loving husband Ron, and grandson George.

She is survived by children Chuck (Kim), Rhonda Carlton (Reg), Ed (Julie), grandchildren Jill, Andrew (Alison), Kyle (Syna), Kaitlyn, Colin (Andrea), Jack, Elizabeth and great grandchildren Avery and Graham. Sister Lorraine Benson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
