Herbert E. Glaser, Jr., age 78, of Ridgeland, WI died Friday, July 17th, 2015 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm.
He was born February 28th, 1937 to Herbert Sr. & Margaret (Speetzen) Glaser at Rice Lake. He attended his first eight years of school at Vanceburg & then finished high school at Prairie Farm, graduating in 1955. During his senior year, he joined the National Guard where he served for eight years.
After high school, he went to work for the Barron News-Shield where he worked for 23 years, along with farming part-time with his dad. On November 2nd, 1957, he was married to Charlotte Middendorp at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cameron & they were blessed with two children: Raymond John & Jodie Ann. After leaving the News-Shield he began farming full-time & did custom work for many area farmers. He also worked for Lehman & Larson of Menomonie before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, playing softball, playing pool, camping, (especially going to Country Fest), racing snowmobiles, watching TV (especially the Packers & NASCAR), going to town for coffee & playing cards. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas & loved spending time with his six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren & of course his pet dogs & cats.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Gary, Charles & James Glaser, father & mother-in-law: Ray & Nellie Middendorp, both sets of grandparents & sister-in-law: Nancy Mittelstadt. In addition to his wife of 57½ years, he is survived by his son: Raymond (Betty) Glaser of Ridgeland, daughter: Jodie Link of Chippewa Falls, grandchildren: Kraig (Breann) Link of Ridgeland, Kevin Link of Ridgeland, Amber (Jesse) Davis of Mt. Prospect, IL, Holly (Ryan) Hulback of Rice Lake, Kristie (Brett) Monson of Ridgeland & Laura Savall of Ripon, great grandchildren: Reid & Mandi Hulback, Oliver & Marcus Link, sister: Charlene Scott of Bismarck, ND, sister-in-law: Nina (Jim) Lewis of Ridgeland, former son-in-law: Don Link of Ridgeland, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24th at United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm with Rev. Shelly Schultz officiating. Visitation will be held for the hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at a later date in Vanceburg Cemetery in the Town of Sheridan, rural Prairie Farm. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
