Colfax graduate Paul Dunbar, US Air Force staff sergeant, was promoted to technical sergeant and is currently stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona.

Courtney Craig, Navy petty officer third class from Elk Mound, is in the middle of a scheduled deployment while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, homeported in Norfolk, Va.

A Holstein shown by Lance Lauffer was judged grand champion during the junior dairy show at the Colfax Free Fair while top exhibitor in the colored breed class was Andrew Dietsche who had the grand champion in that division.

A son, Alexander Bartz Knutson was born June 11 to Todd and Debbie Knutson of Hayward.

Jacqueline Sundby and Charles Hughes were married May 19 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie.

By virtue of selling the most fundraising tickets, Leah Frogner was crowned queen of the 1990 Colfax Free Fair.

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Foust of Colfax, announce the birth of a daughter, Amy Leigh born June 21 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Avil Gotlibson of Colfax will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 6 at Colfax Lutheran Church.

Kim Woodruff showed the grand champion ram at the Colfax Free Fair and Bill Beyrer had the champion Suffolk ewe. Paul Dietsche showed the grand champion dairy cow with his Holstein, Randy Fransway the champion beef cow with a Hereford and Jodi Snyder was tops in the colored breed with her Guernsey.

Plans for staging of the Sand Creek Centennial, which have been worked on for the past few months, will culminate July 3 and 4, with many festivities.

Donna Jean Aasen of Wheeler and Jerry Lee Higbie of Colfax exchanged marriage vows June 19 at Hay River Lutheran Church.

Karen Volkman and Merlin Paulson, both of Colfax were married June 19 at Faith Lutheran Church of Running Valley.

After being married just two months ago, Mrs. John Higbie, Jr. sustained a broken back after falling off a ladder while assisting with the painting of the barn on the home farm.

Colfax’s lighted athletic field will again be the scene of the annual Dunn County Base Ball League East vs. West All Star game July 20. Vic Johnson of Colfax was named to manage the East team while Spitz Kahl of Ridgeland will manage the West group.

Miss Amelia Metzker, formerly of Colfax is the new Director of the School of Nursing and Nursing Service at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Mrs. Martin Samuelson and Mrs. W.O.Weeks returned Thursday from Wausau where they had attended the state convention of Federated Women’s Clubs.

According to reports, Colfax is to have a new bank to be known as the People’s State Bank of Colfax and is to be capitalized for $20,000.

The marriage of Dr. Geo. I. Gregory to Miss Mable S. Morrison occurred at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Brooks last Saturday evening.

Anton Bronken and Gilbert Gunderson had a head end collision with their autos last Saturday at a sharp curve about two miles west of town. It seems that each was running at quite a high speed and were unable to steer out of the rut of the road, but happily neither was hurt.
