With summer comes special celebrations like family reunions, graduation parties and weddings. While such events tend to generate large amounts of trash, they don’t necessarily have to when recycling is offered.
Since 2008, the Dunn County Solid Waste Division has made Special Event Recycling available to residents and businesses. Sixty large collapsible bins with plastic bags and labeled lids for aluminum, glass and plastic containers may be borrowed throughout the summer. The Dunn County Fair has used these bins since the program began, placing a recycling bin next to every trash can. This practice dramatically reduces accumulated waste while saving valuable resources.
When borrowing a large number of recycling bins, a trailer for transportation is also available. Though the trailer and bins may be used for free, a refundable security deposit is required. Users are responsible for transporting the bins and recycling their own materials.
