Awards presented at the annual athletic banquet for Colfax High School went to Andrew Dietsche for both Male Athlete of the Year and Most Coachable, Rachel Woolever, Female Athlete of the Year, and Mary Lee, Most Coachable. Loyal Fans of the Year went to Neoma and Dick Toycen.

Projects approved by the Colfax school board include landscaping, re-roofing part of the school, sealcoating the parking lot and buying a new scoreboard for the football field.

The Dunn County Board of Advisors approved the amended motion to permit ethanol production in an industrial zone in the Town of Hay River only.

Elk Mound won a share of the Small Dunn-St. Croix Conference title with Pepin after a 7-6 win over Spring Valley.

Jeri Ann Nelson of Colfax and Hugh Erickson of Chippewa Falls were married April 21 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

After teaching in Dunn County schools for 40 years, the last 24 at Colfax Elementary, Doris Wagner will retire from the teaching profession.

The Elk Mound softball team lost the regional final game 9-5 to Augusta, the team who beat Colfax 14-5 in the sub-regional game.

Stacy Bjurquist, Heidi Morning and Leah Frogner will represent Colfax at the state track meet while Elk Mound athletes qualifying are Tim Weidinger and Lisa Townsend.

Rebecca Nadine Olson and Lt. Richard Hagen, USMC, were wed May 17 at Colfax Lutheran Church.

The Colfax girls’ track team won the regional meet and took second in the sectional. Qualifying for state were Carol Rothbauer in the high jump and 220 hurdles, Julia Bohnen in the 880 run and the 440 relay team with Rothbauer, Holly Brockman, Karen Fox and Jodi Snyder.

Due to the number of complaints of vehicles speeding through the village, a motion was made by trustee Gust Fehr to buy a radar unit for chief of police Ron Hodgson to use. The motion was tabled however, until prices could be checked on various units.

June 3, 1965

Diane Schmidt of Colfax and Jacob Loew of Bloomer were married May 15 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Bloomer.

Dennis Harms and Paul Teppen, both of Colfax received degrees from Stout State University in industrial education.

Flakes of snow made their way to the Colfax area last Thursday and Friday and a rather heavy frost May 29 damaged many vegetable plants and berry blossoms.

Mr. and Mrs. Gust A. Schultz of Wheeler will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary May 28 with an open house at their home.

Eau Claire Senior High School defeated Colfax 6-0 then went on to beat Glenwood City, who had beaten Elk Mound 13-5, by a score of 16-8 to win the WIAA title.

Selected by the Colfax High School faculty to attend Badger Boys State at Ripon College were Lee Porter, Donald Steinmetz and and James Hjort.

June 4, 1915

Announcement was received at this office yesterday of  the marriage of Mr. Andrew Eaton to Miss Jennie Marie Sather which occurred at Wilson on Wednesday.

Robbers, evidently amatuers, attempted to blow the safe open in the post office at Ridgeland last week by inserting one charge of explosives into a hole bored into the safe. Discovering their effort was fruitless, they made off with $1.45 in small change from the cash drawer.

The local base ball team “found” the ball at will and drove it furiously for the Bloomer boys to follow, resulting in defeating them 18 to 3, then repeated the defeat 23 to 6.
