A son, Luke David Anderson was born April 8 to Penny Snyder and Mike Anderson of Colfax at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

A coronation party to benefit Miss Rodeo Wisconsin, Cara Turner of Colfax  will be held at Dean and Sue’s Dance Hall west of Menomonie.

The undefeated Elk Mound softball team crushed Colfax 18-2 in conference action as Andrea Turek smashed a double and a triple and  Megan DeRusha was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Mounders, Nichole Pederson had the only hit of the game for the Vikings with a triple.

Ryan Seehaver and Cyndi Campbell were named junior prom king and queen for Colfax High School April 21.

A son, Waylon Frederick Kelshaw was born April 24 to Clinton and Juanita Kelshaw at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

Jacob and Diane Loew will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception and dance at the Pines Ballroom in Bloomer May 11.

Selected as the 1980 junior prom king and queen for Colfax High School were Mike Strand and Lori Hainstock.

Mike Heinze of Elk Mound and Tina Cerio of New York were married April 7 in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Honorary Chapter Farmer awards were presented to Richard Johnson, Mrs. Alvin Berg and Lyle Christianson at the annual FFA banquet at Colfax High School.

John Higbie, Jr. claimed Mary Jane Bohl as his bride April 24 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden.

Johnny Bergeson, who recently spent a twenty-day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Odin Bergeson, is now in Vietnam.

In observance of Arbor Day, students in grades one through eight in the Colfax School District, planted trees at the north end of the school property just where the bank breaks over to the river bottoms.

April 27, 1950

A Parent-Teachers Association was reorganized at the high school gymnasium last Friday night with Leon Turner being named the new president.

The Colfax High School base ball team has been working out under coach Ken Poppy in preparation for the eight game season which begins at Chippewa Falls Friday. Colfax will host six of the games which will all be played at night starting at 8:00.

Berner Bronken received severe and painful cuts on his right hand last week while engaged in sawing wood at his home.

The Young People’s Society of the United Lutheran Church recently presented their Pastor, Rev. M.K. Aaberg with a purse of $50, on the occasion of his birthday.

Miss Olga Huff, teacher of District No. 1, Town of Grant, closed her school last Friday and returned to her home at Wheeler.

Arrangements have been made whereby Colfax is to have a week’s chautauqua the latter part of July, which will be the very best series of high class entertainment ever brought to our town.
