Village of Elk Mound residents decided it was time for a change as long time village president Don Miller as he was out voted by Andy Peterson 96-51 after municipal elections were held April 5.

The Colfax baseball team traveled to Minneapolis to play a game in the Metrodome and lost 5-4 in eight innings to Park Falls.

Elk Mound’s Hayley Suckow won the 200 m dash, the 400 m dash and the pole vault at the McDonell Invite at UW-Eau Claire and for the boys, Tim Johnson won the long jump and triple jump and Kyle Erickson won the 1600 m run.

Ronald F. Fandry, 42 of Winter, a graduate of Stanley-Boyd High School and UW-Superior, has signed a contract to be Colfax High School’s new principal and will begin his duties Aug. 6.

A daughter, Rhianna Lynn, was born April 9 to Tim and Kim Barstad at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn.

A son, Mitchell Alan Prince, was born March 31 to Tim and Linda Prince of Ladysmith.

A daughter Courtney Jean Larson was born April 3 at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. to Pamela and Jeffrey Larson of Hudson.

Sharon Loew pitched a complete game for the Colfax softball team in a 15-10 win over Chippewa Falls McDonell.

Mary and Larry Aspen, Chetek, have announced the birth of a daughter, Bridget Bernice Jane Aspen, born April 19 at Barron.

Michael and Joyce Orlowski, Kansas City, Kan. Are the parents of a daughter, Julia Ann born April 19.

During the annual athletic banquet at Colfax High School, Robbie Railton was named the boy athlete of the year, Lori Rodriguez was the girl athlete of the year, Tim Prince was the most coachable for the boys and Bonnie Johnson most coachable for the girls.

There will be all day kindergarten classes in Elk Mound School District next year due to a board decision last month, according to school board president Natalie Amundson.

A son, Todd Richard was born to Mr. and Richard Berger (nee Gloria Varpness) on April 17 at Memorial Hospital, Menomonie.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Gari Spagnoletti (nee Betsy Rostamo) a son named Todd Gari, April 17 at Luther Hospital.

Miss Linda Eve Sundsrom, formerly of Colfax and Ervin Sheets of Rockford, Ill. were united in marriage  April 10 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Sand Creek was the setting for the wedding of Bonnie Joan Lofthus of New Auburn and Steven Smith of Sand Creek April 3.

While riding on the afternoon passenger train from Stanley to Colfax, 12-year-old Gayl Yokes of Colfax was unaware he was sitting next to the Duchess of Windsor who was on her way to Canada from Florida. The two carried on a pleasant conversation and he was quite thrilled when he found out later who she was.

Miss Anita Bronken of Colfax traveled to Reedley, Calif. where she will act as a bridesmaid for Jacqueline Hughes, a girl she  met while serving as a WASP during the war.

The Rev. C.K. Malmin will begin his duties as pastor for Holden, Norton and Running Valley congregations in rural Colfax shortly after May 1.

April 23, 1915

Reuben Larson from Colfax High was given first place at the Oratorial League contest held in Baldwin last Friday. Reuben will be the representative at the District Oratorial contest in River Falls next month.

Mrs. Lewis Omtveit is still confined to her bed after a severe attack of the Lagrippe.

Wm. Priddy autoed through the valley Tuesday looking after his business interests for the Farmers’s Telephone Company.
