A daughter, Cameryn Ann Fjelstad was born March 22 to Richard and Kate Fjelstad at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Named to the Dunn-St. Croix All Conference basketball team from Colfax for the boys were Travis Blomberg and Andrew Dietsche and for the girls, Katie Burrington, Rachel Woolover, Heather Hubbard and Lauren Castillo.
Tim Johnson and Ryan Schumacher represented the Elk Mound boys on the D-SC All Conference team while Amanda Irwin was chosen for the girl’s team.
The Colfax School Board accepted the sudden and abrupt resignation of sixth grade teacher and head boys’ basketball coach Joe Kuklenski, effectively immediately.

Heidi Knutson and Trevor Gunderson, both of Colfax, were married Dec. 30 at Colfax Lutheran Church.
Overall winners of the Senior Vikings League at Viking Bowl were the Pirates team of Bud DeMoe, Tippy Fjelsted, Joe Rosenberg, Hazel Lee and Arnold Solberg.
Mark Traun has stepped into the head coaching role for the Elk Mound baseball team this season.
Ray’s Metal Works, owned by Ray and Marlene Johnson, was honored by the Midwest Division of Lennox Industries, Inc. for a 25% increase in business for the 1989 year.

Voters in the Colfax School District voted in favor of keeping the Plainview Elementary School open during the 1980-81 school year.
The Livestock Building fund for the fairgrounds has reached 66% of it’s $10,000 goal and is at $6,640.04.
Plenty of kids of all ages ages attended the Colfax Area Jaycees Easter egg hunt April 5.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Gaylon Gotliebson of Colfax, a son named Ricky Philip March 21 at Luther Hospital.
A son was born to Dr. and Mrs. H.H. Earnhart April 5 at Luther Hospital.
A daughter, Maria Ann was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barstad April 10 at Luther Hospital.
Born March 28 to Mr. and Mrs. John Yimoyines (nee Natalie Brinkman) of Kingston, Rhode Island, a son named Zeus John.

A special meeting of School district No. 3 was held at the Colfax high school to decide upon the disposition of the Bear Valley school house which was damaged by wind and not used for a number of years.
Pfc. Laverne E. Alman, age 19 of Colfax, has entered the Airplane and Engine Mechanic’s School at Shepard Air Force Base, Texas.
Art Valaske, early this week, informed The Messenger that six sows on his farm have just given birth to 84 little red pigs, which is an average of 14 for each sow and considered a very high birth number.

The whistle at the Stone Mill pealed forth its melodious song on the air Monday morning and reminded us that work had commenced there for the coming season.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lowry of Minneapolis, were here Sunday to attend the funeral of his brother James Mathews Lowry.
The grippe is still rushing about the valley and we note that Mr. and Mrs. Ole Svalstuen are on the sick list at this writing.
