Ralph and Mildred Pitts, residents of Area Nursing Home in Colfax, celebrated 70 years of marriage at a celebration at the nursing home.
Members of the Destination Imagination team from Colfax High School placed first at the West Central competition March 12. Team members were Nick Staack, Robert Haake, Griffin Hinwood, Rachel Mosey, Sophia Secraw, Moira Ryan and Amy Secraw.
Wayne Lutz was appointed the new fire chief for Elk Mound, replacing Roger Hainstock.

Dick Kieffer is the new owner of the Outhouse Bar (formerly Sidetrack Bar) located on Main St. in Colfax.
Colfax school board members accepted the resignation of Todd Kieffer as head varsity girl’s basketball coach, a job he’d held for three years.
Richard C. Robinson of Sand Creek, Marine staff sergeant, was recently commended while serving with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC for his outstanding performance of duty, his professionalism and overall dedication to the service.

A daughter, Shanon Nicole, was born to Rick and Nancy Hainstock, Colfax, March 13 at Myrtle Werth Medical Center, Menomonie.
Julie Klein of Hillsdale and Ronald Kistner of Ridgeland were married March 1 at Dallas Lutheran Church.
Colfax High School’s Mike Kiekhafer, Robbie Railton and Tim Prince and Elk Mound High School’s Bruce Myers were named to the Dunn-St. Croix Boys Basketball All Conference team. Receiving special mention were Mounder Kevin Malnory and Viking Todd Knutson and named honorable mention were Mounders Steve Ovren and Scot Miller and Vike Gene Halpin.
Janet Rothbauer was named to the D-SC Girls All Conference Basketball Team for Colfax, while Elk Mound’s Diane Gruber and the Viking’s Becky Knutson were named honorable mention.

Doris Ruth Cook and Lewis Martin Klosowski were married at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie March 20.
Two Dunn County girls have entered the Region 8 Alice in Dairyland contest including Donna Rice of Colfax and Mary Mannes of Elk Mound.
The following women from Colfax attended the Dunn-Pepin County Women’s Club Convention in Knapp recently: Mrs. Larry Kochendorfer, Mrs. Ben Rosenberg, Mrs. Leon Turner, Mrs. David Frogner and Mrs. Clarence Burling.

James Hjort from Colfax High School placed third in the state Legion sponsored oratorical contest held in Stevens Point last week.
Fire caused some damage to the roof around the chimney of the Colfax Lutheran Church on Sunday morning. A number of members saw the blaze as God’s hint to members to work harder on the church building fund and bring it to completion.
The new Colfax Male Chorus organization is well on its way to success with 20-25 members but there are still openings in all sections.

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Logslett March 25, occured the marriage of their daughter Christine Jensine to Mr. Theodore S. Orvold of Chippewa Falls.
Garfield Gunderson went to Eau Claire last Sunday to visit his wife in the sanatorium. He was accompanied on the trip by his aunt, Mrs. Ole Maukstad.
Herman Anderson, a farmer residing near Elk Mound, died very suddenly at his home there March 25. He leaves a wife and two children behind.
