Gordon E. Galoff, age 89, of Menomonie, WI passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at The Neighbors of Dunn County.
He was born April 9, 1925 in the Town of Weston, Dunn Co. WI to Edward and Olga (Klaehammer) Galoff. Gordon was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Eau Galle. In 1942 he graduated from Menomonie High School and then farmed with his parents in the Town of Sherman until 1946.
Gordon married Marlys Hellendrung on June 15, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie. They took over the Galoff family farm and continued farming until 1978 when their son purchased the farm from them.
Gordon and his wife were long time members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Gordon served on several church boards. They enjoyed square dancing and were members for several years of local square dancing dance clubs and attended many state conventions. They also enjoyed traveling and Gordon enjoyed hunting.
Gordon is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Marlys; four children, Susan Donica of Barron, Karen (Jerry) Birkholz of Paynesville, MN, Sandra (John) Clark of Wisconsin Rapids, James (Sue) Galoff of Menomonie; eleven grandchildren, Johnny Donica, Christopher (Deanne)) Donica, Patrick (Kim) Donica, Kim (Randy) Cook, Scott Shoemaker, Matt Shoemaker, Jamie Riedel (Kevin), Nikki Shaw, Brad Galoff, Carolyn (Chris) Nelson, Jennifer (Mike) Bartlett; great-grandchildren, Olivia Riedel, Alaina Riedel, Hayden Shaw, Grace Donica, Ethan Donica, Cody Donica, Madison Donica, Isabell Donica, Brayden Donica, Mackenze Donica, Aiden Donica, Kadence Cook, Kira Cook, Randy Cook, Evan Bartlett, Allison Bartlett, Micheala Nelson; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law John Donica and granddaughter-in-law Mary Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor Brett Voigt officiating. There will be visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI.
