Colfax Junior Kindergarten teacher Pam Arntson and her assistant Marilyn Dehnert were named recipients of the Channel 13 Sunshine Award.

Colfax senior Becca Ludwig was named Bremer Bank Youth of the Month for March while senior Chad Curry of Elk Mound High School was chosen as March Optimist Youth of the Month.

Several inches of wet, heavy snow hit the area March 10.

Colfax graduate Brent Tice, a junior on the UW-Eau Claire track and field team, recorded his best shot put throw of the season at the WIAC indoor championships at UW-Platteville March 4.

There were 56 applicants from seven different states for the principal’s job at Colfax High School but that has been narrowed down to 10, and from there four candidates will be interviewed.

A daughter, Janesa Rae Foslid, was born March 15 at Myrtle Werth Medical Center in Menomonie to Gail and Robert Foslid, Colfax.

Mike Gerner won the All Events with a score of 1986 at the Colfax Men’s Bowling Association tournament at the Viking Bowl.

A daughter, Allysson Mary-Ellen, was born to Richard and Cheryl (Luer) Willie Feb. 24 at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Kenosha.

High bowler in All Events of the Colfax Men’s Bowling Association tournament is Roger Klukas with 1,931 pins.

Richard Hoffman has donated 280 acres of his rural Elk Mound farm to the DNR as the site where hikers, horseback riders and skiers can pursue quiet sports and individuals and school classes can study nature.

A daughter named Renee Dawn was born March 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scheidecker at Luther Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Krueger are the parents of a son, Sean Timothy born March 19 at Luther Hospital.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Loew at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls March 19. He has been named David Thomas.

The Tainter Tigers were crowned champions in the dartball tournament after defeating the Running Valley Cubs. Individual honors for the season went to Curt Knutson for highest batting average of .497 and Gaylon Gotliebson with most runs batted in with 112.

Rev. Theo. M. Boe of Albert Lea, Minn. has answered the call of the Colfax Lutheran church and will serve as pastor here, beginning about May. 1.

A.C. Rude, local John Deere dealer, invites all farmers and their families to attend his big John Deere program at the Municipal Auditorium where the feature picture “Roots in the Soil” will be shown.

In the village last Saturday, March 20, occurred the marriage of Mr. Andrew Strom to Miss Minda Lee, both of Otter Creek.

The local high school is to meet the New Richmond High School in a debate on a most popular and important subject, that being, “Resolved that women suffrage is desirable in the United States”.
