Coat Closet gives away over 1600 items

This winter the Coat Closet has given away a little over 1600 items and helped 157 families. Since its beginning in 2002, they have given away 16,170 items.

As you know, winter in Wisconsin is cold. The Coat Closet is helping by giving items to those who can’t afford to pay the high prices in stores. People come from as far away as Dallas, Eau Claire, Spring Valley, and Turtle Lake. Everyone who has donated to the Coat Closet is appreciated – area stores, churches, service groups and individuals have donated winter items and their time.

But…even though the distributions have ended for this winter, the Coat Closet is getting ready for next season! Please keep them in mind at clearance sales, thrift sales, and when you clean out those closets. The biggest needs are boots, snow pants, waterproof gloves, coats, and adult coats 2x and up. Due to limited space, the Coat Closet can only take winter outer items. Drop boxes are at the Library, Post Office and Bank in Boyceville year round.
