MADISON – It took Micah Johnson just 27 seconds to redeem last evening’s semifinals’ loss.
Johnson will be wrestling for third place later this afternoon after pinning Chequamegon’s Isaac Weik just 27 seconds into their Division 3 consolation semifinals’ match at 152 pounds.
Johnson stuck Weik in the sectional finals a week ago Saturday. That one came in 56 seconds.
Today at high noon in the Kohl Center, Johnson jumped on Weik as soon as the referee’s whistle blow to start the contest. Johnson grabbed Weik and put him on his back and then readjusted and rolled Weik up onto his shoulders for the quick pin call.
Johnson will wrestle Coleman junior Kevin Lansin for third place later this afternoon. Lansin defeated Zach Coffeen of Laconia, 7-3, in the other consolation semifinal match. Lansin is 41-3 while Johnson improved to 17-3.
