STEVE R. SIMMON

Steve R. Simmon, age 68, of Woodville, WI died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at the Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville, WI with Adoray Hospice.

Steve was born March 7, 1946 in Baldwin, WI to Grant and Mildred (Dahlin) Simmon. He owned and operated an auto parts business. Steve married Barbara Weiland in 1976 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI. This marriage was blessed by two boys, Troy and Trent.

He loved giving all he had to his boys, spending time at the cabin with family and breakfast on Saturday mornings at the casino. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and going to Cedar Lake Speedway. He always cheered for the Green Bay Packers during football season and was famous for playing jokes and pranks on friends. Playing cards with friends and anyone else who was willing was a simple joy in Steve’s life but one he cherished. He felt blessed to have a wonderful relationship with his nephew Christopher DeSmith and was grateful for his support throughout his life. Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. “Soggy noodle” you old “Sconnie weasel”!

Steve is preceded in death by his son Trent, parents Grant and Mildred, brothers Tom & Gary Simmon and sister Gail Simmon.

Steve is survived by son Troy Simmon of Glenwood City, WI; sister-in-law Nancy Simmon of Coon Rapids, MN; nieces and nephew Debbie Basnett and husband John of OH, Kristin Simmon – Lowman and husband Dave of IL, Greg Simmon and wife Amy of GA, Jenifer Lokker and husband Randy of Baldwin, WI and Joy Chrest and husband Tom of Ramsey, MN along with their families. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, WI. Reverend Diane House officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Goossens, George Tuttle, Shorty Finder, Christopher DeSmith and Greg Simmon. Interment of cremains will be in the Glenwood Cemetery at a later date.
