LAUREL HAZEL (GREGERSON) NELSON

Laurel Hazel (Gregerson) Nelson, age 90 of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2015 at the Parkview Care Center in Woodville.

Laurel was born on February 21, 1924 in Spring Valley to parents, Edward and Hope (Norton) Gregerson. She was raised in Spring Valley with her five siblings. On August 27, 1945, Laurel was united in marriage to Robert Nelson. Together they would raise seven children in the Clear Lake area, and celebrate 65 years of marriage.

Laurel was a loving and caring woman who always had a friendly smile on her face. Her sweet and friendly nature was evident to anyone who had the opportunity to encounter her. Laurel enjoyed planting flowers in her garden, bird watching, going fishing, reading books, sewing and crocheting, and traveling. She traveled to visit family and friends, but would then continue her travels on to other destinations.

Laurel will remain in the hearts of her children, Kathy (Dan) Mason of Kalispell, MT, Jack (Mae) Nelson of El Paso, TX, Wendy Hockbein (Joseph Harding) of Saint Paul, MN, Gary (Patty) Nelson of Clear Lake, WI, Lynette (Gary) Hupfer of Cadott, WI, and Ellen Nelson of Woodville, WI; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dan Grohn of Elk Mound, WI; brother, Galen (Jean) Gregerson of River Falls, WI; sister-in-law, Adwina Gregerson of Woodville, WI; brother-in-law, Ben Stork of Mauston, WI; brother-in-law Jim (Elinor) Nelson; sister-in-law Wanda Waterman; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends.

Laurel is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Margie Grohn; grandson, Dennis Grohn; son-in-law, Jeff Hockbein; her parents; and siblings, Evaline Vier, Arlie Gregerson, Nyla Stork, and Theol Barstad.

Laurel’s family would like to thank the staff at the Parkview Care Center in Woodville for their loving care and support.

A Funeral Celebration of Life for Laurel Nelson was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the American Legion Post 240, 410 Maple St., in Baldwin. Visitation was held one hour prior to services, and also from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin. Burial took place in the Lone Pine Cemetery of Woodville, WI.
