EDITH L. JOHNSON
Edith L. Johnson, age 100, of Glenwood City, WI died Friday February 20, 2015 at Glenhaven, Inc. in Glenwood City, WI.
Edith was born September 22, 1914 in Wilson, WI to Martin and Caroline (Lien) Berg. She attended the Oak Lane Country School south of Wilson, where she attended to the 8th grade and later attended school at the Wilson High School until the 10th grade. At the age of 20 she met and dated Lawrence Walter Johnson for 3 1/2 years before they were married by their minister on January 2, 1937, she recalled it was in the winter. Lawrence died in 1973 on Father’s Day. They would have celebrated their 40th Anniversary that year. In 1974 she moved into Glenwood City, WI.
Edith enjoyed sewing, tube painting, all types of music, cooking and being out with friends.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, daughter Geraldine, brothers Kenneth and Melvin, sisters Cora and Genevieve.
Edith is survived by son Lawrence “Junior” Johnson and wife Denise; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Reverend Diane House officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery Glenwood City, WI. Friends were able call at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
