SCOTT WALKER IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT!
According to a recent poll of Republicans, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker is the front runner in a field of eight candidates for President of the United States in the November 2016 election.
Walker has made the national news media coverage with stories on most media news from Fox News’ Rush Limbaugh through the big three networks, which Rush calls the “drive by media”.
He is looked at by Republicans as a possible great candidate because he has turned the finances of the state around and has won three elections in the past four years. He is scheduled to meet with the money people in the Big Apple to see if he can get their support.
Walker got national attention following the failed recall election and his landslide victory last November. The people that signed the recall petition should be the ones to get the credit for Walker’s rush onto the national scene.
Of course, political fortunes can change overnight and the Presidential election is still 21 months away.
I am writing this piece on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February, 14, while Paula and I are on vacation at Pine Top, AZ, and by the time you read this, things may have changed. The cabin we are staying in has hot and cold running water and heat. Pine Top is some three hours to the northeast of Phoenix in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. This area is some 7,200 feet up in the mountains and the air is thin and could be affecting my mind.
We crossed nine states to get here by auto, traveling first to Little Rock, AR to spend several days with our son and his family. While there, we attended a Mike Huckabee book signing and political rally called “America, from Ordinary to Extraordinary.”
Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, is another Republican on the list with Walker in the picture to run for president. He addressed many things regarding his Christian values. He also addressed the debt that our country has put itself into and noted that it will take all the income of our kids, grand and great-grandchildren to pay it off.
Huckabee spoke about “Love, Hope, and Faith”, and the need to be accepting of others feelings and beliefs. He also was promoting his newest book, “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy,” and among many other topics he stressed diversity.
He preached, if I can use that word, that we must be tolerant of other people’s ideas and opinions and not to try to silence those who would have a different point of view than ours.
I would like to quote a passage from his book about diversity:
“Diversity training is now standard at large corporations, to ensure that everyone joins our pursuit of the Holy Grail of diversity! Let’s face it, diversity is code for uniformity. The goal of the PC (political correct) police and the zealots on the extreme left is to eliminate any voice that is diverse and to insist on compliance and acceptance of the works, definitions, action, and attitudes that they have crafted around their own lifestyles and beliefs.”
