A daughter, Ava Mae Knudson, was born Oct. 29 at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh to Jamie and Sarah Knudson of Oshkosh.

Colfax Elementary-Middle School principal Bill Yingst, now serving with the U.S. Army Reserve in Afghanistan, spoke to the large crowd during the Veteran’s Day program at the school via DVD recording.

Former Colfax High School distance runner Tim Smit, current member of the St. John’s University (MN) cross country team, will be competing in the Division III National meet held at Whitetail Golf Course Nov. 20.

Ben Schindler of Colfax and Mary Jo Weisenberger of Ladysmith were married Aug. 26 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Ladysmith.

The Elk Mound football team lost the Division 5 state championship game 14-6 to Hilbert. After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, Jesse Zurbuchen scored the only touchdown for the Mounders on a 43 yard run in the third quarter.

Elk Mound defeated Colfax in girls’ basketball action 46-39 as Jenny Prause led the Mounders with 17 points while Jodi Bosch scored 14 for the Vikings.

Ellyn Meredith was born to Donna and Roger Hainstock of Colfax, Nov. 12 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

Tamara Jolene was born to Marshall and Rita Traxler of Denver, Colorado. Nov. 15.

Robbie Railton, Kris Kressin, Dan Maukstad and Andy Schindler were named to the Dunn-St. Croix All Conference football team for Colfax while Bruce Myers, Scot Miller and Randy Faulkner represented Elk Mound.

In a non-conference opening basketball game for both teams, Elk Mound defeated Colfax 63-53. Dave Dummer dumped in 23 points for the winners and John Feeney 12 while Colfax was led by Roger Hoff with 18 points and Rich Knutson with 14.

Sharon Anderson, formerly of Elk Mound became the bride of Kermit Pederson Nov. 7 at Big Elk Creek Church.

Jean Higbie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Higbie, fell at school one day last week and fractured a bone in her right arm.

New rooms in the rear of the David Sundby building are now occupied by Dr. O.M. Felland and Dr. W.R. Brooks.

Nine hundred and fifty five residents of Colfax and community make up an overwhelming number signing petitions asking for a new spillway dam at the mouth of Eighteen Mile creek in Colfax to replace the old spillway dam lost in the floods years ago.

Miss Gladys Schwartz of Colfax became the bride of Donald Tanberg of  Elk Mound Oct. 22 at the Assembly of God Church in Missoula, Montana.

Note from The Colfax Store Company: Santa Claus will be on the job as usual this year. No matter what the weather may be; no matter if all Europe is at war, Santa Claus will do his regular stunt.

The regular meeting of the men’s club was held at Rye’s Hall with an attendance of 44. Prof. G.A. Stenerson gave a very interesting talk on High Schools, while O.G. Kinney related some of his experiences in gold mining.
