Douglas “Doug” C. Nelson died peacefully in Baldwin Hospital on August 22, 2014 at the age of 74.
Doug is survived by his wife, Rosalie (Albrecht); children, Mark Nelson and Kiki Johnson (fiancée) of Glenwood City, Kristin Nelson of Mauston, WI; grandson Hunter Nelson, granddaughter Sabrina Malean; sisters Nancy Bengston of Harris, MN, Susan Mendenhall of Salt Lake City, UT. He is preceded in death by his father Clarence Nelson, mother Grace (Milligan) Nelson, brother David Nelson, Father-in-law Walter Albrecht, Mother-in-law, Gladys (Wold) Albrecht.
Doug was born on September 25, 1939 in Centuria, WI to Clarence Nelson and Grace (Milligan) Nelson. He graduated from Unity High School in Centuria, WI.
Doug married Rosalie Albrecht in 1966. Over time, the couple welcomed two children into their home and Doug set about teaching them to love others. His children remember him as a loving, caring, and stubborn father. He always wanted things fixed the correct way. He will be remembered as the biggest fan of his children who always wanted them to be their best.
Doug was accomplished at solving problems at work, home, and his business, Nelson Repair. He was a dedicated and thoughtful individual who loved World War II airplanes, eagles, and his family. Over time Doug was a member of the Optimist Club, Volunteer Police Officer in New Hope, MN, Lions Club, Confederate Air Force, and most recently Joseph’s Square of Zion Lutheran Church.
A memorial service is scheduled for August 30, 2014. The visitation will be at 1 p.m. and the service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City with a reception to follow at the church. Pastor Diane House will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug’s life. The family would like to thank Dr. Stoeckeler and the Baldwin Area Medical Center staff for their continuous support and care.
