School Board approves new teacher applications

BOYCEVILLE – It was a fairly quick meeting of the Board of Education in Boyceville on Monday night, August 18.
The Board approved a handful of items including the hiring of Kirsten Redding as a High School English teacher and Rebecca Paulson as a Four Year Old Kindergarten teacher.
There were two resignations approved as well with Erika Sudbrink leaving as a full time bus driver and Lisa Zondlo resigned from being the new Spanish teacher.
There currently is no one hired for Spanish in the high school and there is still a vacancy in the position of school nurse.
The Board did approve the hire of Amy Thorson as a regular route bus driver.
In other news, High School/Middle School Principal Steve Glocke updated the Board on a time change for the upcoming production “Snow White- A Very Pale Fairy Tale”.
Due to the football game on Friday, the show will now be held twice on Saturday with a 2 pm and 7 pm showing.
In Elementary Principal, Nick Kaiser’s report, he shared that the 14th annual Open House will be on September 2 this year and parents and students can meet the staff and find classrooms that day.
Students will also be able to get their pictures taken that day as well by Lifetouch.
Lifetouch will also be in the school district on Thursday of this week and then again in September to film a short three to four minute promotional video.
Superintendent Kevin Sipple said that they will be going around the school shooting videos of interviews with the various staff members, an administrator, a board members and students. This video will then go onto the school’s website.
Lastly, there were several items modified and added to the student handbooks including changes to academic letter and pin criteria, changes regarding wireless device use, security cameras in the buildings and use of a drug dog.
The Board approved the items in the handbook and also approved was a 66:03 Agreement with the School District of Altoona to share a Vision Teacher.
