Nathan Haugle of Colfax received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and Minta Jo Dwyer of Elk Mound a bachelor of science degree in nursing, both from UW-Madison during spring commencement.
Lance Lauffer of Colfax entered two animals that placed high in the Wisconsin State Fair Junior Dairy Cattle Shows Aug. 5-15 in West Allis.
Danielle Ratcliff and Robert Rubenzer were married May 15 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Bloomer.

The Colfax Babe Ruth baseball team won the Western Wisconsin title with a 9-1 record. Coached by Craig Johnson, the team defeated Spring Valley and Elk Mound in the post season championship tournament.
Becky Larson and Daniel Jenson were married Aug. 5 at Barum Lutheran Church, Elk Mound.
David G. Martin of Elk Mound received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Wisconsin State Patrol after he assisted at the scene of an accident on Highway 12 July 16.

Ellen Leach and Gary Anderson, both of Colfax, were married Aug. 11 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cooks Valley.
School lunch prices for Colfax students will increase by ten cents with elementary students paying 50 cents and high school students 55 cents. Adults will pay 95 cents.
An open house and dedication ceremony for the new Colfax Junior-Senior High School will be held Aug. 26.

Miss Kathleen Laura Ovren of Elk Mound, became the bride of Thomas M. Lamb of Spring Valley Aug. 15 at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church.
Mr. and Mrs Leo Pecore of Two Rivers, Wisc. are the parents of a daughter, Katie Marie born Aug. 16.
A son, Roger Joseph, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Gullickson Aug. 23 at Luther Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Juel Melgaard are the parents of a son born Aug. 23 at Luther Hospital.

The skeleton of Ole “Copper Ole” Haraldson, who was reported missing back in October, was found by August Erickson and his son David in one of their fields during fall plowing.
One hundred and eighteen applications have been received by local men desiring employment on the new bridge over Highway 170 in the village of Colfax.
The Colfax base ball ream lost a league game to Ridgeland 5 to 0 as Colfax got only two hits off “Bud” Grant.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Flynn of Colfax celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at the home of Mrs. Henry Hovland near Wheeler.

Now they are seeking to have the marriage of C.S. (Yankee) Ward of this city annulled on the grounds that his mind was wandering when he popped the question and that undue influence was used in bringing about his marriage to Lillian Stephens in Eau Claire last spring. Mr. Ward is 81 years old and has property. His wife is about 30 years his junior.
Miss Christene Logslet went to Chippewa Falls last week to call on her brother Alfred who is confined to the hospital with blood poison.
There is to be a barn dance at E. Thue’s at Norton Aug. 29. Good music of four pieces and plenty of rooms to dance eighteen sets.
