Over 800 people participate in Halos 5k Run

Halos of the St. Croix Valley hosted a 5K Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 26 in Hudson and over 800 people joined in the day’s activities that honored and celebrated the children who have passed away too soon.

A group of community members, family and dear friends from around Glenwood City and Boyceville walked alongside Elliott Weeks and Caitlin Williams in memory of their son Ruxin Weeks.

59 walkers registered prior to the event and more participated that day, which put team “Runnin’ for Ruxey” in first place amongst the others and they received the Most Participants Trophy.

Aside from the 5K and awards ceremony, there was a kids’ fun run, a balloon release, a silent auction, vendors’ booths were set up, live music played and a carnival was set up.

Proceeds raised that day went to Halos, which is a non-profit foundation serving families of the St. Croix Valley.

Their mission is to provide ongoing support, encouragement and assistance to families who are grieving the loss of a child.
