A son, Jamison Matthew Flatland, was born July 14 to Matt and Stacy Flatland of Colfax at Myrtle Werth Hospital in Menomonie.
Earning BS degrees from UW-Stout May 8 were Monica Wittrock from Colfax and Timothy Benjamin, Jeffery Bushendorf, Jackie Gjedd, Allison O’Connell and Sam Werner, all from Elk Mound.
The Colfax Black Sox upped their record to 14-1 after winning their 11th straight game with an 11-9 win over Bloomer.

Married July 1 at Colfax United Methodist Church were Karin Fennie of Colfax and Gerald J. Mandli of Portage.
Elk Mound’s junior high students will have an increase in physical education and health next year with both being offered twice a week rather than just once a week.
Kevin Snyder is the new mechanic at Colfax Farmers Union.

A ceremony which blended both Muslim and Christian wedding customs celebrated the marriage of Rosemary Felland of Colfax and Sabir Hasan of Eau Claire July 4 on the campus of UW-Eau Claire.
Sandra Sikora of Colfax and Glenn Sarauer of Bloomer were married July 21 at St. John the Baptist Church.
Alan Lorenzen and Beth Noer, both of Colfax, received degrees in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mahla of Elk Mound will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 5 at the Barum Lutheran Church.

Four children of the Edwin Stobb family, ages 6, 4, 1 ½ and 6 months, were rescued from their burning home six miles southeast of Colfax by their sister Pamela, age 9 and a brother Jeffrey, age 7.
A daughter named Janeen Marie was born to Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Andre in a Milwaukee hospital.
Recently united in the holy estate of matrimony at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, North Dakota were the Reverend Gordon Gustav Johannesson of Colfax and Miss Gayle Irene Moore of New Rockford.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Anderson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Aug. 2 at their home in Colfax.

Rev. S. M. Moe will deliver his farewell sermon to Lutherans attending regular Sunday morning services in Colfax this week.
Attendance at the donkey ball game sponsored by the Colfax Commercial Club netted $150.00.
After missing the first 65 games of the season, outfielder Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees smacked five homeruns in four games to lead the Yanks in a winning streak. To top it off, he was named to the all star game.

However well the ladies may excel in culinary and domestic arts, we shall not dispute. But after seeing the Federal Bloomer Team of lady players clash bats and skills with the locals Monday afternoon, we are more convinced than ever that a woman’s proper place is in the home and not on the base ball diamond.
It required twelve innings, one of poor and eleven of good base ball to defeat the Eau Claire Continentals 5-4 last Sunday. Howe laid down a perfect bunt bringing in H. Fjelsted from third for the winning run.
