Evelyn Agnes Jones, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, July, 1, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Eau Claire Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born on December 2, 1927, in the city of Milwaukee, to Edmund and Agnes (Hajducki) Podd. On June 24, 1950, she married Roger Laverne Jones and they resided in Milwaukee. Gary was born November, 9, 1951, in Milwaukee, and Beverly, November 21, 1953, in Waukesha. In 1954, Roger and Evelyn moved to a dairy farm near Colfax for several years before selling the farm due to Roger’s health. They then moved to a hobby farm near Albertville.  Sharon was born August, 31, 1960, in Eau Claire.  Evelyn worked at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire while residing there. Gary developed the love for farming by working on neighboring farms and, in 1968, another farm was purchased near Colfax. Roger, Evelyn and the children, farmed there until 1990. They, then again, purchased a hobby farm closer to Colfax and retired. In 2012, Gary bought a house by Prairie Farm were Evelyn lived until her passing.

Evelyn loved the outdoors and nature. She liked gardening and canning. She was especially fond of the water and would say being on the water was relaxing and peaceful. She liked going to Country Jam with her daughters and out to eat with family. In her later years, she enjoyed her grandchildren, Renee and Mitchell, and would have picnics by the lake or river for their birthdays. Her great-grandchild, Katelyn, loved her grandma. In Evelyn’s last days, her best joy was listening to Katelyn jabber and sharing hugs and kisses.

Evelyn was a member of the Big Elk Creek and Colfax Lutheran Churches and served on the ladies circle. She was the success behind her children’s confirmations, and especially loved midnight candle light services on Christmas Eve. She enjoyed traveling every chance she could, especially the trip to Europe. Evelyn loved her family and dedicated her life to them.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roger; three children, Gary Jones, Beverly (Merle) Crane, and Sharon Jones; one granddaughter, Renee Crane; one grandson, Mitchell Crane; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Armstrong; three brothers, Robert, Donald (Sandra) and Kenneth Podd; two sisters; Beatrice Starich and Gloria (Donald) Bonnert; and also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
