By Kelsie Hoitomt

BOYCEVILLE – Nathaniel, 22, and Jonathan Hitchcock, 20, are the grandsons of Leigh and Nancy Diller of Boyceville, and Bernard and Mary Stanton of Kansas City, MO.

Both young men were recently deployed to Afghanistan as part of the 829th Engineering Battalion.

The Hitchcock brothers shook hands and snapped a photograph with Governor Scott Walker on April 4 of this year during their send off ceremony at Camp Douglas in Tomah.

The young men are trained to deconstruct buildings the army no longer wants to leave behind in areas such as Afghanistan.

Nathaniel and Jonathan are the sons of Dennis and Susan who reside in the northern part of Wisconsin in the small town of Mason.

Leigh and Nancy have another grandson, Michael, who is in the Air Force undergoing training in San Antonio, Texas.

He also has a brother that completed a five year tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan with the Marines.

The two are the sons of Paul and Karen Hitchcock who reside in Ashland.
