Dale Hendricks, a Navy veteran from Colfax, was flown to Washington, D.C. by SBC Communications, Inc. for the dedication of the National World War II Memorial.

Brandon Topper and Sheila Schmitz exchanged wedding vows June 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

Colfax baseball players named to the Big Eight Division of the Dunn-St. Croix all conference team were Andy Lorenzen for first team and Trevor Knutson, Joey Robertson and Tony Berres, all second team.

Representing Colfax on the Big Five Division of the conference softball team were Megan Kistner and Tracy Johnson for second team and Heidi Peterson, honorable mention.

Elk Mound baseball players named to the Small Six Division all conference team were Ben Sivertson, Brandon Powell and Ryan Schumacher, all first team, Scott Harrison, second team and Eric Kirby and Aaron Blicher both honorable mention.

Mounder softball players selected to the all conference team were Sara Sivertson, Jerica Melgaard and Stacy Kopp, first team, Kyrah Beaulieu, second team and  Andrea Turak, honorable mention.

Married May 13 at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls were Jan Marie Emmert and Robert Gene Fehr.

Kendra Hill and Kyle Repaal were married May 13 at Colfax United Methodist Church.

The Elk Mound softball team lost in the opening round of the Class C state championship tournament 7-2 to eventual champion Marshall. The Mounders had only 11 players on the team this year and it was their third straight trip to state.

What may have been a funnel cloud touched down on the farm of Virgil and Betty Prieve of Route 2, Elk Mound June 16, demolishing their barn.

Sharon Sundby of Ridgeland and David Zuehlke of Waukesha were married  June 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

A reception to honor the marriage of Nancy G. Larson and Jonathan B. Poling was held May 19 at the Eau Claire Civic Center Inn.

Colfax Lutheran Church was the setting for the marriage of Ann Marie Hovre and Dr. Erling A. Kloppedal June 6.

Holden Lutheran Church celebrated their Centennial with a day of festivities including confirmation class reunions and a sermon presented by Dr. Alvin Rogness.

Stuart Halpin, member of Company A, 32nd Division, left June 12 for Fort Benning, Georgia where he is attending Officers Candidate School.

Miss Gladys Sykora was united in marriage to George Gessler June 7 at St. John’s Church in Cook’s Valley.

Wedding vows of Glenna Hilson and Carl Jenson, both of Colfax, were repeated at the Grace Lutheran Chapel in Eau Claire June 10.

Layton Anderson, a ’49 graduate of Colfax, recently signed on with the U. S. Marines for a one year hitch.

At the United Lutheran Church in the village Wednesday afternoon occurred the marriage of Mr. Martin M. Iverson to Miss Alba B. Bjornson.

One of the worst wind storms ever witnessed here struck this locality early Tuesday evening and continued its fury till after midnight, blowing over large sheds and barns in the country including the Robert Sorenson feed barn.

Merten, the twelve year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Nichols, holds the latest record for the largest pickerel taken from Lake Colfax, having landing one that weighed 14 ½ pounds!
