The Colfax Kiwanis Club is gathering names of all service persons who attended Colfax area schools, village and rural, who died during times of war to have their names placed on a plaque which will be displayed at the high school.
Elk Mound senior Stefanie Irwin has been chosen to play in the Chippewa Valley All Star Basketball classic at UW-Stout’s Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Colfax baseball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 4-3 win over Osceola and an 18-10 win over Durand.

A rare occurence in the world of horses took place when a 14 year old mare belonging to 14 year old Kari Buchner of Colfax gave birth to twins April 22.
Elk Mound edged Colfax 4-3 in eight innings in softball action as Leesa Ritchie held the Vikings hitless and struck out 10 with all of the Viking’s runs being unearned.
Country music stars Jim and Jon Hager, regulars on the “Hee Haw” TV show, will appear at the Colfax Free Fair June 23.

Robbie Railton and Michelle Orlowski were elected by their junior classmates as king and queen of this year’s Colfax Junior Prom.
Toni Domagala and Jerry Marko were named Colfax’s Athletes of the Year at the annual athletic banquet while Kay Fisher and Jay Miller were named Most Coachable.
Jay Miller was chosen to play in the 2nd Annual Wisconsin High School Basketball Association All Star game in Madison this June.
Beth Ann Schumacher of Elk Mound and Tom Greeley of Menomonie were married April 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound.

Carol Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Solberg, Eau Claire,was born April 17 at Luther Hospital.
Dedication services for the new Colfax elementary school building as well as the addition to the high school building will be held in the school auditorium Sunday, May 10.
With a purchase of $1,800.00 worth of stock by the Colfax Women’s Civic League, Inc. the goal of $45,000 was reached and the Colfax Nursing Home will be a reality.

The Junior-Senior Promenade will be held at the high school gym May 6 with the theme “Stardust” and music furnished by August Frenette and his Orchestra. Chosen as King is Curtis Close and the Queen is Grace Toycen.
In their first game of the season, Clyde Prince was the winning pitcher for Colfax High School in the 8-2 win over Chippewa Falls while Vern Steinmetz banged a two run homerun in the win.
The Lutheran Church of Colfax was the scene of the wedding April 30 of Miss Gladys O. Jenson and Mr. Hjalmer C. Lind, both of Colfax.

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Freestone in the village Tuesday, an assemblage of seventeen young boys made merry for a couple of hours in honor of the tenth birthday of their son Joseph.
Leon Snyder recently purchased forty acres of land just west of the “Royal George” in west Colfax where he expects to exploit ginseng raising and build a brand new residence that will help beautify Colfax.
Norwegians in all parts of the world will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the rise of modern Norway with the largest celebration outside of Norway taking place at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
