On Good Friday, April 18, 2014, Heaven gained an angel, Dennis Huxhold, age 75, who passed away at home surrounded by family.

Dennis was born January 19, 1939.  He was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. An entrepreneur during his lifetime, he started/ran several businesses, and worked for the U.S. Post Office, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks, Eagles and Moose Lodge, and the DAV.  He loved spending time with his family, along with boating, camping, traveling, fishing, hunting, playing golf, and enjoyed cooking at the Trendway Cruise-in benefit for the past 12 years.

He is survived by his wife Arlene of 52 years; Children, Bill (Kim) Huxhold, Sandy (Steve) Brunmeier, Deb (Mike) Bareman, and Teresa (Nita D’Arienzo) Huxhold; Grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Huxhold, Amber and Zach Brunmeier, Casey and Taylor Bareman; Sisters, Marlene Huxhold, and Jacqueline (Dick) Sytsma; In-Laws, Don (Kathy) Scharlau, and Dave (Mary Jo) Scharlau; and his uncle and aunt, Harold and Katherine Jacoby. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3151 N. 120th Ave.  Officiating were Pastors John C. Schleicher and Earl Merz.  Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland.
