Katherine Grace Haake of Colfax has accepted membership into Golden Key International Honor Society and was individually honored at a recent ceremony at UW-La Crosse.
Hannah Moen set a new Colfax record for girls in the pole vault in indoor track at 7’3” for second place at the Northern Badger Classic at UW Stout.
Hayley Suckow won the 400 m dash and pole vault for the Elk Mound girls at the Northern Badger Classic at UW Stout.

At a March 18 wedding at Colfax Lutheran Church, Kristin Peeso and Fletcher Johnson exchanged wedding vows.
Jerry Holldorf, an employee of the Viking Bowl, became the first bowler to roll a 700 series at the bowling alley which has been open for 10 years.
A wedding ceremony for Bonnie Wang and Ralph Bosben will take place April 8 at Colfax United Methodist Church with a reception and dance at the Viking Bowl.

Janet Rosenberg won the All Events award for the Women’s Bowling Association tournament at the Viking Bowl while Vicki Freeberg won the singles title and teamed with Nancy Hainstock to win the doubles.
After working in the education field for 40 years, the past 16 as Elk Mound’s District Administrator, Bruce Erickson will be retiring June 30.
Voters in the Town of Grant decided to keep their community “dry” and not allow any liquor licenses to be sold. The two question referendum came about when a petition circulated by Mrs. Lilyan Sonnenberg indicated she would like to convert some of her farm land into a resort and serve food and liquor to her guests.

Floy Ann Knowlton of Sand Creek and Barry Gene Lofthus of New Auburn were married March 21 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Scheidecker are the parents of a daughter, Tamara Lynne, born March 21 at Luther Hospital.
A son, Lyle John, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Benish (nee Marilyn Johnson) March 28 in Kenosha.

Marty Crowe, coach at St. Pat’s High School, Eau Claire, will be the guest speaker at the Colfax High School athletic banquet which is sponsored by the Colfax Commercial Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nelson of Sand Creek celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary March 27 with an open house.
Leslie C. Nelson of Colfax received the Bachelor of Art degree at the end of the first semester from the University of Wisconsin.

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.S.Viets in the village on Monday, occurred the marriage of Mrs. Viets’ sister, Miss Carolyn Elnora Kulbeck to Mr. Ray Golden, both of New Auburn.
Upon waking Monday morning and finding nearly six inches of snow on the ground, we were reminded that summer was not yet at hand.
Garfield Fjelsted died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Fjelsted at age 20 as a result of epilepsy of which he had been a sufferer since age eight.
