A daughter, Miranda Jean Knutson, was born March 1 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls to Kim and Mandy Knutson, Colfax.

Martin and Wanda Tandberg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 27 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek.

Colfax senior Lauren Mulvey has been chosen as the Bremer Bank Youth of the Month for March.

March 16, 1989

Seventh grader Rhonda Eder was the winner of the Colfax Elementary and Junior High School Spelling Bee and will compete at the regional contest in Baldwin.

A daughter, Monica Joy, was born to Susan (Bates) and Colin Bertsch March 8 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

Named to the Dunn-St. Croix All Conference team from Colfax were Chris Stoffel, first team and Pan Parzyck, honorable mention for the boys, and freshman Jodi Bosch, second team for the girls.

All Conference players from Elk Mound include Tim Myers, second team and Travis Wenzel, Jason Stamm and Dave Rhude, all honorable mention. For the girls, Renae Rhude and Renee Weidinger were both first team while Lisa Morris was second team.

David Gullickson won the singles, doubles and all events at the Colfax Men’s Bowling Association tournament held at the Viking Bowl. He teamed with Curt Knutson to win the doubles.

Colfax High School Agriculture teacher Allen Danielson has begun a grievance procedure against the school board after he was informed board members had voted for non-renewal of his contract.

R.W. Hodgson, Colfax chief of police, reported he was approached by a person from Rt. 1 Colfax who said his wife had just run him out of the house with a shotgun and that he needed a place to sleep. The wife was contacted and the situation was straightened out. The subject was transported back to his residence and he became violent, resulting in him being transported to the Dunn County Health Care Center for detoxification.

March 19, 1964

A son was born March 10 at Luther Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Norval Beyrer. He has two older brothers.

Ray and Marie Fritz, owners of Deepwood Ski Area in Otter Creek, will host an Open House at the new chalet March 21.

Sixty years ago, in 1904, the Colfax Library came into existence, although complete records were not kept until the year of 1908.

Gary Hjort, 7th grade student, achieved high honors in the county spelling contest held at Menomonie as he attained a score of 57 which was within one point of the winner who received a 58.

Kenneth L. Frogner was recently discharged from the U.S. Navy at Seattle, Washington and is now living at Portland, Oregon.

At a special meeting of the Colfax Lutheran Church, it was unanimously decided to call the Rev. L. W. Halvorson of Eau Claire to serve the parish here.

Announcement was received Monday of the marriage of  Miss Bertha O. Larson of Colfax to Mr. Henry O. Running, which occurred on the 11th, Instant, at Cambridge, Mass.

Having secured the agency for Harley-Davidson motor cycles for this locality, we will be pleased to talk with anyone who contemplates buying. Come in and see us. –Colfax Garage

There will be a basket social at the Oak Grove school, Joint district No. 7 Saturday evening. Ladies, bring baskets. Proceeds go toward buying a new clock for the school.
