Colfax senior Marc Flodquist has been named Bremer Bank Youth of the Month for February.
Using a slow-down offense, the Colfax boys’ basketball team nearly pulled off an upset over Spring Valley but lost 26-24.
The Colfax girls defeated Boyceville 54-47 in overtime for the second win over the Bulldogs this year to put themselves in first place in the conference. Denise Kragness led Colfax with 15 points in the win.

A girl, Andrea Christine, was born on Feb. 12 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire to Mark and Susan Barstad of Colfax.
Born Feb. 9 at Luther Hospital, a daughter Brianna Sue to David and Charlene Klukas of Colfax.
A daughter named Michaela Kathleen was born on Feb. 7 to Todd and Lenore Bille of Colfax.
Three Colfax wrestlers advanced to the sectionals after placing first or second at the regional meet in Loyal. Ron Scott and Loren Bergeson both took first while Travis Seehaver was second.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dunbar are happy to announce the birth of a boy, Michael Jay, born Feb. 12 at Memorial Hospital in Menomonie.
After making a trip to the state wrestling tournament two years ago, senior Jerry Marko of Colfax will be competing at Madison again after winning the sectional meet in Amery. Wrestling at 155 pounds, Marko pinned his first opponent, won in overtime the second round then won by a pin in the championship match. Class A, B and C schools will all compete against each other for the final year as next year there will be three separate classes.
Kathy Thompson led the Colfax girls with 19 points in a 62-13 win over Elk Mound. The team finished with an 11-7 record after losing their final regular season game to Prescott 50-28.

Marianne Alvina Bahr of Eau Claire became the bride of Marlyn Varpness of Colfax Feb. 8 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Eau Claire.
Elected as new directors for the Colfax Creamery Board were Basil Michels, Alvin McClellan, Erling Peterson and Ed Bowe.
Gene C. Gehrking of Elk Mound has completed basic training Jan. 31 at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.

February 24, 1949
Marie Gullickson of Colfax and William Stewart of Elk Mound were married at the Colfax Lutheran parsonage February 12.
The Colfax quint lost their final conference game 60-54 to Ellsworth as Rogstad scored 22 points to lead the Vikings. Steinmetz fouled out in the third quarter while Newman and Clyde Prince followed suit in the fourth, allowing the Panthers to steal the win.
Cheerleaders for the Colfax sports teams this year include Donald Freestone, Eunice Follingstad, Lorraine Wulle and Shirley Peterson.

At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Stockland in the village Feb. 24. occurred the marriage of Mrs. Stockland’s sister, Miss Rose E. Harrington of Wheeler to Edward H. Green of Massillon, Iowa.
Mrs. Sivert Anderson (Anna), died at her home a mile north of town at age 64 on Feb. 18 from chronic bronchitis and pneumonia.
