Frieda Hanson of Glenwood City passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Menomonie. She was 92 years old.
Frieda Wilhemina Johanna Hanson was born on July 29, 1921 in the Town of New Haven, Dunn County to Frerich and Louise (Alverman) Doyen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and at Immauel Lutheran Church in the Township of Forest, WI. She attended the Bolen Elementary School and farmed with her family until she was married to Justin Hanson on May 17, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they started their own farm a mile away from her home farm and raised seven children. Later, Frieda farmed with her family as Justin worked as a carpenter. A few years after Justin’s death in 1989, she moved to an apartment in Boyceville. Frieda made friends wherever she went, but her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She spent as much time as possible with her family. She moved to Glenhaven Nursing Home in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband Justin, parents, step-grandson Gregory Harrer, brother Herman, and sisters Anna and Louise.
She is survived by her children: LaVonne Harrer and husband Michael, Eugene Hanson and wife AnneMaria Darlene Hanson, Wayne Hanson and wife Mary Jo, Diane Bird and husband Marlin, Gary Hanson and wife Kathy, Warren Hanson and wife Amy; grandchildren Andrea, Emmali, Megan, Justin, Travis, Lynette Smith and husband John, Maurice, Jacob and Haley many other friends and relatives; five step-grandchildren: Nicole Bulver and husband John, Danielle Nelson and husband Keith, Jeffrey Heinke and wife Angela, Adam and Heather Bird; and seven great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI with Reverend Bradley Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in the Township of New Haven, WI. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Local arrangements by the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Trinity Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
