ESTHER M. KOOSMANN

Esther M. Koosmann, age 92, of Glenwood City, WI died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin, WI.

Esther was born May 20, 1921 in the Township of Forest, WI to Harry and Minnie (Anderson) Winberg. She was baptized at Zoar Lutheran Church in Emerald, WI June 6, 1921. She graduated from Glenwood City High School on May 25, 1939. Esther married Gerhard Koosmann on May 28, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Township of Forest, WI.

Esther started her career as a housekeeper on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, MN. She worked at Fabri-Tek in the 60’s, then at the Glenwood Clinic for the Limbergs, and later for Dr. Wood at the chiropractic office. She continued working into her 80’s at Hometown Crafts. She was a very active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and wrote articles for the Tribune Press Reporter.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerhard in 1980, son William in 1972, and 4 brothers: Francis, Raymond, Clifford, and Melvin Winberg.

Esther is survived by seven children: Jerome Koosmann of Glenwood City, WI, Gerhard “Skip” Koosmann and wife Susan of Hudson, WI, Stephen Koosmann and wife Kate of Winter, WI, Karen DeSmith of Hammond, WI, Paulette Lambertson and husband Larry of Forest Lake, MN, Mary Lokken and husband Carly of Baldwin, WI, and Martha Schmidt and husband Randy of Hudson, WI; 18 grandchildren: Ellen Koosmann, Rebecca (Kevin) Soltis, Bill (Katie McGee) Koosmann, Richard Koosmann, Eva (Iver) Branson, Anna Koosmann, Kristin DeSmith (Douglas Causey), Amy (Brian) Nadeau, Jane Lambertson (Dan Schuldt), Jeffrey Lambertson (Amanda Jarvis), Laura Koosmann, Jamie Koosmann, Laura Hecimovich (Lorna Santema), Tera (Adam) Peckles, Carrie (Tom) Klatt, Adam Lokken, Brianna Schmidt (Robert Quasius), Abby Schmidt (Luke Rhinesmith); 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister Eileen Mrdutt of Glenwood City, WI; sisters-in-law Gladys Winberg, Donna Winberg, and Laverne Koosmann, and special friend Marie Berenschot. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Reverend Diane House officiating. Final disposition will be at the Eau Claire Memorial Crematory.
