Colfax senior Karla Jenson has been selected as the Bremer Bank January Youth of the Month.

In what has been described as an “instant classic” game, the Colfax girls’ basketball team defeated two time defending D-SC Conference champion Boyceville 39-36 in overtime on the Bulldog’s home court. Tracy Johnson led the Vikings with 13 points in the win.

Rural Colfax native, LeAnn Ralph, published her first book, “Christmas in Dairyland” six months ago which is a collection of short stories about her growing up on a rural dairy farm.

A son, Logan Michael was born Dec. 30th to Michael and Jodi Kiekhafer of Wausau at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

A boy, Jared Wayne, was born Jan. 4 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire to Cory and Nancy Knutson of rural Colfax.

A daughter, Stephanie Michelle, was born to Christopher and Melissa Larson Jan. 4 in Richmond, KY.

Candidates filing for the office of village president in Colfax are Julian Logslett and Joe Rosenberg while incumbents Clyde Steinmetz and Loren Dressel will face off against Eugene Carlson and Chris Olson for three trustee spots.

Chad Arntson would like to announce the birth of his brother, Brady John, on Jan. 2 to John and Pam Arntson.

A daughter named Elizabeth Ann was born to Brenda (formerly Hainstock) and Tom Bauerkemper Jan. 2 in Anoka, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Steven Johnson of Eau Claire announce the birth of a daughter, Lindsey Leigh, on Dec. 29 in Eau Claire.

The Colfax boys’ basketball team remains undefeated at 6-0 and are 5-0 in conference play with a 77-55 win over Spring Valley. Jay Miller collected 17 points to lead the Vikings in the win.

Miss Sylvia Lee of Colfax, former Alice in Dairyland, will be the main speaker at the Colfax High School Future Homemakers of America party Jan. 18.

Staff Sergeant Lyle Fjelsted, a Colfax graduate, now of Wurtsmith AFB, Mich., has been decorated with the United States Air Force Commendation Medal.

The Colfax wrestling B Squad lost 33-17 to River Falls with Sylte, Mickelson and Kragness all winning their matches by pins for the Vikings.The varsity also lost 33-12 as Lynn Gilberts and Ray Michels both won their matches.

Miss Viola M. Jones of Mauston became the bride of Edward C. Laustad of Colfax on Christmas Day at her parents home in Mauston.

Miss Bernice Tweed of Sand Creek and Dale Koger of Eau Claire were united in marriage Dec. 22 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek.

World War I veteran Ralph Leroy Peterson, a Colfax graduate, passed away at age 51 after being in various stages of invalidism due to being stricken with sleeping sickness in 1924.

Mr. F.L. Moore, representing Marshall Field & Co. with a full line of samples of Ladies Ready to Wear Clothing, will be at the Colfax Store Company Jan. 27.

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Hammer on Monday afternoon when Mrs. Hammer’s sister, Miss Julia Moen was united in marriage to Mr. Clarence Baker of Minneapolis.

On a drive home from a dance at Sand Creek last Sunday morning, the Misses Helen and Mable Denham had a lucky escape when part of the traces became unfastened and the team ran away, leaving the girls and the rig in the road, and they had to telephone for another rig to come and bring them in.
