Kiandra “Kia” Allison Schaffer, age 18, formerly of Boyceville, WI, but now living in the Rice Lake area, died Friday, January 10, 2014 north of Rice Lake, WI as the result of an auto accident.
Kia was born June 5, 1995 in New Richmond, WI to Terry and Becky (Hoag) Schaffer. She was a 2013 graduate of Boyceville High School and planned on starting to further her education toward a degree in Mortuary Science in the fall of 2014.
Kiandra was presently working for Kohl’s Department Store and Applebee’s Restaurant, both in Rice Lake. She was very active in Boyceville High School in Dance, Cheerleading, Choir and Softball. She served on her Senior High School Year Book Committee and was on her Junior Prom Court. Kia enjoyed playing sand volleyball, she LOVED to dance and everytime she went out, she made a positive “fashion statement.” Kia enjoyed going to the Woodbury Garage Sales and Warrens Cran Fest with her mom. She would wrestle with Alec and he would always win. She enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and loved to drive her boyfriend, Josh’s, Big Red Truck. Kia loved going to Country Fest and worked there last summer under the Morrie’s Mazda Tent. She also “job shadowed” at Olson Funeral Home this past summer. We believe her favorite past time was babysitting her nieces, Zoey and Sahara. They called her “Tya.”
Kia is survived by, her mother, Becky (Tim) Fasbender of Menomonie; father, Terry Schaffer of Clayton; her boyfriend, Josh Gretschmann of Cameron; two sisters, Sabrina Harnisch of Boyceville and Tanya (Cody Javner) Harnisch of Oakdale, MN; one brother, Alec Schaffer of Menomonie; sisters, Rebecca (David) Ekenstedt of Cumberland, Karen (Dean) Berger of Timberland, WI and DeeLynn (Richard) Pippenger of Turtle Lake; step-sister, RaeAnna Fasbender of Menomonie; step-brother, Brady Fasbender of Menomonie; grandparents, Garry and Sally Hoag of Boyceville, Larry and Joanne Schaffer of Clayton and Patricia Fasbender of Lanesboro, MN; nieces and nephews, Zoey and Sahara Hillstead, Kloey and Colton Berger, Lily Pippenger and Jonathan and Daniel Ekenstedt; cousins, other relatives and many, many friends that are too numerous to mention.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Tabitha, that she was now able to meet; and great grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyceville with Pastor Brad Peterson officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the Service at the church.
Burial will follow the service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Hay River Township, rural Wheeler, WI.
