JOHN W. MARTIN

John W. Martin, age 91 of Clear Lake, WI, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Amery Regional Medical Center.

John William Martin “Johnny” was born on September 8, 1922 in Forest Township, WI, the son of Herman & Hulda (Hahn) Martin. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest Township and attended Highlanding school in Deer Park. In 1946, John joined the U.S. Army and served in Japan at the end of WWII. On his return, he met and married Lois Kuhl on august 24, 1951 at Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, WI. Together they farmed and raised three daughters, Kristine, Susan, & Cindy. John was a very good and successful farmer who took care of his animals and land. After retiring in 1995, he enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and traveling to see his daughters in California, Utah and Illinois. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he had served on the board and with his wife Lois was the janitor for many years. He was also a member of the Clear Lake VFW. John was a quiet humble man who never asked for much. He dearly loved his family and his Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Hulda Martin; brother, Henry Martin; sisters, Anna Rand & Louise St. Germain

He leaves to mourn his passing: wife Lois Martin of Clear Lake, WI; daughters Kristine (Larry) Ferstenou of Ivins, UT; Susan (Duane) Landini of Bensonville, IL, Cindy Martin of San Luis Obispo, CA; granddaughter Jessica Landini of Milwaukee, WI; and relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held Monday, January 6, 2014 at 1 pm at Grace Lutheran church in Clear Lake, WI, with visitation on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 1 pm at Grace Lutheran church in Clear Lake, WI from 11 am to 1 pm.

Pastor Ellery Groth officiated and Judy Weber was the organist.

Casketbearers were Cary Steeg, Allen Rand, Lee Jacobson, Dennis Johnson, Robert St. Germain, Larry Thelan.

Interment was at Clear Lake Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Clear Lake Area Veterans Honor Guard.
