A daughter, Olivia Ann Usgaard was born Nov. 11 to Heidi and Mike Usgaard of River Falls.
Although it was a lacklustre effort on their part according to coach Joe Doucette, the Colfax girls’ basketball team won 54-41 over Pepin. Rachel Woolover led the Vikings with 16 points.
The Colfax School Board approved three capital improvement projects including replacement of the heating system, redoing the front parking lot and putting a new handicapped accessible lobby, including bathrooms, on the front of the Martin Anderson gym for a total of 1.2 million.

Colfax second graders have been busy making Christmas cards for a boy named David who has leukemia and wants to set the Guinness Book of Records for receiving the most cards this Christmas.
Colfax High School student Tonya Pelke will be among 335 select participants of the National Cheerleaders Association Superstar Dance Team and Spiritleaders that will perform during the Eagle Aloha Bowl in Hawaii.
Incumbents Marion Loew and Judy Lamb, along with Jerry Albricht have declared candidacy for the Colfax School Board in this spring’s election.

Winners of the first half of the Thursday Night Major bowling league were Ernie Bates, Ken Secraw, Jerry Albricht, Jim Larson and Lyle Christianson of Lloyds D-X.
Patrice Christianson (Luer) graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in environmental health last Sunday.
The Colfax boys’ basketball team moved to 5-0 with a 71-65 win over Cameron as Jay Miller scored 27 points for the Vikings.

Bryn Volkman of Colfax is one of three area boys who have been nominated as candidates to the U.S. Naval Academy by Congressman Lester Johnson.
A purebred Holstein heifer from the herd of Alf Lee, will be donated by the Colfax Civic Club to someone attending the District 9 annual meeting of the American Dairy Association at the Colfax Village Hall.
A chimney fire at the home of Art Johnson in Otter Creek was the cause of a fire run by the Colfax Fire Department Friday.

Fourteen year old Roger Kressin had the misfortune of breaking his collar bone while skiing at the home of his grandparents.
Between 600 and 700 youngsters all received a sack of goodies from the Colfax Commercial Club when they came to visit Santa Claus in Colfax last Thursday.
Mirelda Halvorson of the Howard-Wheaton 4-H Club was one of 51 members from Wisconsin to win the annual Prairie Farmer “Second Mile” award, given for outstanding club work.

Imbibing the Christmas spirit and in line with their usual custom, the Colfax Store Company handed out some fine salad dishes to customers as souvenirs, and as an appreciation of efficient service they gave each of their twenty five employees a check for five dollars.
Geo. De Laitsch is Dunn County’s first aviator, having made a most wonderful flight Xmas eve when his auto cycle went into a ditch.
