GEORGE A. EDWARDS

George A. Edwards, 93, of Clayton died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Golden Age Manor in Amery.

He was born August 30, 1920 in Vance Creek Township, WI on the family farm to John and Melvia (Rowe) Edwards. George was married in Amery on November 28, 1942 to Virginia Heibel who preceded him in death on August 22, 2013. Together George and Virginia raised their children and farmed on the family farm until retiring in 1989. He served on the Clayton School board for 18 years and also was the President of the Reeve Cemetery Association for 50 years. George enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

George is survived by his sons, Dennis (Sue) Edwards of Rhinelander and George J. (Dona) Edwards of Clayton; daughters, Kathleen (Bob) Krejce of St Paul, MN, Peggy Johnson of Ashland and Annette (Eduardo) Chavez of St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law, Margaret Edwards of Menomonie; grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Kim Collins, Allison Chapman, Jim Krejce, Jennifer Boldt, Melissa Kastern, Michelle Johnson, Nick Chavez, Anjelica Chavez, Mike Norris, Ryan Benson, Stacie Benson and adopted grandson, Steve Smith and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Roger and James Edwards and brothers, Robert and Jack Edwards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Turtle Lake, WI with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Reeve Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kelly Johnson, Kim Collins, Allison Chapman, Jim Krejce, Jennifer Boldt, Melissa Kastern, Michelle Johnson, Nick Chavez, Anjelica Chavez, Mike Norris, Ryan Benson, Stacie Benson and Steve Smith. Military honors were accorded by Donalds-Hylkema Post #137 American Legion of Turtle Lake.
