William F. Cook, 78, of Dunn County Township of Red Cedar, died peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Sunday, October 27, 2013.
He was born September 30, 1935, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Frederick and Ethel (Blake) Cook. William married Irene Mittlesdorf on November 9, 1957, at Colfax Lutheran Church.
The couple took over the family farm where he was raised and raised their children and farmed his entire life. Following his farming days, William worked at Indianhead Enterprise for several years.
Among his hobbies were western books, playing “dirty clubs”, visiting with his Colfax friends and doing the “shake a day”. He also enjoyed watching football, deer hunting, coon hunting, and fishing in his younger days.
William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene; four children, Lee (Rhonda) Cook of Colfax, David (Angie) Cook of Colfax, Donna (Bob) Kraemer of Menomonie, and James Cook of Elk Mound; four grandchildren, Cody Cook, Courtney Cook, Jasmine Kraemer, and Kayla Mann; one great-grandchild, Kaydan. Also by a brother, Orville (Mary) Cook of Janesville, WI; sisters-in-law, Sally (Lee) Prill of Bloomer; Jean Christiansen from Hayward, Harriet (Barry) Gobler of Hayward; brother-in-law, David (Carol) Mittlesdorf of Hayward; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Cook; and a sister, Doris Klosowski.
Per William’s request, no services will be held.
