GCHS wins West CAP Food Challenge
By Kelsie Hoitomt
Students and fans of the Glenwood City School District officially earned the West CAP Food Challenge trophy for the first time ever since the inception of this challenge which started 5 years ago.
Accepting the trophy on the behalf of the school district is Mrs. Tiberg’s 4th grade class and Ms. Lewis’ Kindergarten class as these students took the challenge to heart and collected the most items school wide.
GCHS won West CAP’s Food Fight Challenge after collecting $218.50 and 1,255 pounds of food compared to $356.25 and 260 pounds collected by Boyceville.
This challenge was also used to leverage donations for another challenge that is being held by Feed My People Food Bank.
For every dollar collected through November 1, 2013 FMP will donate a pound of free food to the food pantry up to 5,000 pounds of Food!
West CAP still needs approximately $1,100 to make this goal of $5,000 happen. All of these pounds will help stock the shelves with additional free food at West CAP’s Food Access and Resource Center for local families in need.
